Statement of Faith

STATEMENT OF FAITH

AT LIVING WATERS COMMUNITY CHURCH

WE BELIEVE…

  • in the verbal-plenary inspiration of the Old and New Testaments, as the actual Word of God; that they constitute the final authority for faith and practice for the Christian. . (II Samuel 23:2; Matt. 4:4; 5:18; II Tim. 3:16; e II Peter 1:21)
  • in the Triune Godhead; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory, one in being, yet distinct in personality and function, and that Jesus Christ is the incarnate Virgin born, sinless Son of God (God the Son), and His shed blood is the only atonement for sin.   (Matt 3:16-17; 28:19; Rom. 8:9; II Cor. 13:14; Is. 7:4; Matt. 1:18; John 1:1; 8:46; II Cor. 5:21; I Peter. 1:18-19; Is. 53; John 20)
  • in the literal Genesis accounts of the Creation and fall of man, and oppose any form of evolutionary teaching. (Genesis 1,2; Hebrews 11:3)
  • in the sanctity of marriage, and that God ordained that marriage be between one man and one woman and we oppose anything that corrupts this moral standard. (Gen. 1 & 2; Heb. 13:4; 1 Cor. 7:2)
  • in salvation through personal faith in the shed Blood of Christ and the regeneration of man by the power of the Holy Spirit. (John 1:12-13; Rom. 10:9,10; Eph. 2:8,9; John 10:28; 5:24; 3:36; Titus 3:5)
  • in the eternal security of the true believer as he is justified, sealed by the Spirit, kept by God, and God has promised to complete the work began in him. (Rom. 5:1; Eph. 1:13; John 10:28; 1 Pet. 1:5; Phil. 1:6)
  • in the existence of Satan, who is a real, distinct, and definite personality, and in the existence of fallen spirits who oppose God’s work and purpose. (Gen. 3:16; Luke 10:18; II Cor. 4:4; I Thess. 2:18; Eph. 6:11; I Peter 5:8; Revelations 20:10; Mark 16:17)
  • in the natural and total depravity of the human heart, because of the sin of Adam and subsequent fall of man, and the need of each person to be changed through the new birth.(Gen. 3; John 3:3,6; Rom. 3:10ff; 5:12,19)
  • in the existence of heaven, where the righteous shall dwell with God for eternity. We also believe in the existence of a literal hell, or lake of fire, into which the lost shall suffer all eternity. (Ps. 89:29; John 14:2,3; Matt. 25:46; Luke 16:23; II Cor. 5:10; II Tim. 4:1; II Peter 3:7; Revelations 20)
  • in the visible, actual, bodily return of Jesus Christ to this earth, in the bodily resurrection of the Saints of this present age, who will be caught up to meet Christ in the clouds before that great and terrible day of the Lord, which will begin a series of climatic events “such as not known before,” consummating this present age, opening the millennium, and final judgments. (Matt. 25:31; II Cor. 5:10; II Tim. 4:1; II Peter. 3:7; Rev. 19, 20; I Thess. 4:13-18)
  • that the church is the body of truly born-again believers.  We believe that every born-again Saint is commanded to be an active participating member of such a local church. We believe that the local church consists of two offices: pastors & deacons, and two ordinances:  believer’s baptism by immersion, and the Lord’s Supper. (Matt. 18:17; Acts 14:23; Rom. 16:5; I Cor. 1:2; 4:17; Acts 20:7; 1:23-26; 2:41-47; 6:5,6; 20:17,28; I Peter 5:2; I Cor. 11:23-26)

that the born-again child of God is to live a holy life, separated from the things of this world which would hinder his spiritual life and his testimony before others. (I Cor. 6:19-20; 10:23-33; II Cor. 6:14-
